| Peter Waller is a name familiar to many on the internet, as he is a keen
fan of the medium of bulletin boards, offering advice when he can and not being one to shy
from controversial issues! Born 1946 at Oulton Broad, in Suffolk, he has lived, and fished, beside the Broads all of his life. Apart, that is, a few years living in Lincoln, fishing the Witham, a year or two in Bosham in Sussex, fishing the Solent & English Channel, and a year or two in London dreaming of fishing anywhere but London! He spent twenty years as a professional portrait photographer, travelling the Eastern Counties, fishing every bit of water that he could in the time available. That resulted in some extended lunch hours or long detours on the way home! Now very much a non travelling angler, 99% of his fishing is now on the Broads. Not being a person who can fish for hours on end, he picks & chooses his sessions to coincide with conditions and times that ensure blanks are few & far between. Lucky is the man who can down tools when instinct & whim dictate success! Not for Peter the bivvy or the extended, largely inactive session. Peters passions are pike, pike, lures, bream & perch. Hes had pike to 34 pounds, on a lure, and says that he just cant beat the magical 35! Perch to 4 pounds, on a lure, but have never had a 3 pounder! Bream to 11 pounds, on a lure! Catfish to 18 pounds, on a lure. "Reasonably successful, but size is just a bonus. Being there is what matters," say Peter. His major influences, Mr Crabtree, Ken Whitehead, Thurlow Craig, Alexander Wanless, R.C.R, Barder, Fred Buller, Peter Stone, Billy Lane, Barry Rickards & Dennis Pye and his ambitions are to carry on fishing, to see angling develop into a mass activity as it is in the US, to see anglers treat all fish with far greater respect, to see a united sport and to see the close season retained and the four rod rule revoked. Peters best moment in angling is the start of a new season, whilst the worst moment is having to pack up! |
