A lot of people contact Anglers' Net to enquire about
days out with Matt Hayes. You can arrange these by either phoning Total
Fishing on 01746 780907 or via e-mail on
totalfishing@totalfishing.tv
We asked Matt to explain a bit about what's on offer:
"I offer several trips. All of the trips, with the
exception of Windermere are 450 pounds. This includes a full day out, tackle
if required and bait along with any fishing tickets needed. I can never
guarantee that people will catch fish but more often than not we are
successful. The main thing is that we always have a good time and the
clients can have photos taken etc., if they want. I can guarantee that they
will learn new techniques and ideas and it is up to the client to decide
what he or she wants to learn from the day.
The trips on offer are:
Carp Fishing - this can either be
commercial style carp fishing on a small water where carp in the four to
fifteen pounds bracket are the main targets.
Clients will learn the key techniques for these fish and we often use the
Furnace mill Fishery in Worcestershire. Furnace Mill is a beautiful little
fishery and the carp respond to all sorts of methods. Fishing with floating
baits is very effective and surface action is almost always guaranteed in
the warmer months. We can also fly fish for the carp at Furnace - great fun!
Big Carp - this is a bit more hit and
miss but if clients want to go for carp using the big fish tactics there are
a few waters I can take them to where they have a good chance. Big carp are
never guaranteed but I have not yet had a client who has failed to catch at
least a double-figure fish. I will instruct clients how to fish accurately,
how to bait up accurately and show them a few winning rigs. Weather
permitting, we also fish for big carp on the surface or try stalking -
exciting stuff. If clients want to learn specific techniques, I can tailor
the day to meet their specific requirements.
Pleasure Fishing - this is a day's float
fishing at Furnace Mill fishery in Worcestershire for a variety of species
including carp, roach, orfe, tench, perch, crucians and chub. The day will
teach clients how to master basic fishing techniques such as how to set-up a
float, how to plumb the depth, how to feed etc., This is an ideal day out
for beginner and intermediate pleasure anglers.
Barbel - barbel fishing on the middle
Severn either from the bank or from canoes is popular. We tend to catch a
few barbel through the summer and the main methods from the bank are feeder
and leger techniques, while from the canoes we tend to fish moving baits.
Success from the canoes is virtually guaranteed because we are fishing in
areas that anglers don't normally get a bait into.
The bank fishing is the standard 450 a day but for the
canoe trips it is a two-angler trip costing 700.00 This offers the
clients the chance to fish at a reduced price, plus they get to come out on
the canoe with myself and experienced canoe guide, Gareth Owen. The day
comprises a trip down the river in Indian style canoes and fishing in some
superb out-of-the-way places on the Severn. We take lunch on an island in
the middle of the river and at the end of the day we transport clients back
to their cars. This is a very popular trip and it never fails to satisfy!
Lures for Pike and Zander - this is a
fantastic day out on my boat. I will take clients out on the Severn or
Warwickshire Avon and teach them how to catch predators on jigs, spinners
and plugs. Success on the Avon is guaranteed and the scenery is nothing
short of stunning. Clients have caught some big fish on this trip with pike
to just over twenty and zander into double-figures. Everyone loves this trip
- it has a timeless magic about it.
VIP Pike - though success with fish
cannot be guaranteed, a day out on lake Windermere is an awesome experience.
I meet clients the night before at Cragwood House, a lodge on the shore of
lake Windermere. The hotel has its own boathouse at the bottom of the
garden. A great dinner in the gourmet restaurant gives the client my full
and undivided attention for the evening prior to the trip where we can swap
fishing stories and enjoy the craic. The next day we fish a full session in
the boat on Windermere and try to catch one of those legendary pike. The
scenery is superb and the fish, when we get them are big and brawny with
awesome fighting characteristics. With the mountains as a backdrop,
Windermere is possibly the ultimate pike venue in England - this is one trip
that anyone who wants to share a unique fishing trip with me will not want
to miss. Along the way, they'll learn all about boat fishing for pike, how
to fish static baits and how to troll lures and baits. Instruction regarding
how to use fishfinders and downriggers can also be included along with
advice in general about fishing for pike on big waters. This trip costs 550
pounds and includes overnight stay, dinner and a day's fishing with me in
the boat. An extra night can be arranged with the hotel if required. |
