Hi Guys, planning a trip up to Loch Awe sometime soon and was wondering what the rules are on camping? Are there campsites I can use (not seen any on Google) or is it ok to camp on the shore? Also a wee camp fire to warm my cockles too?

Obviously tidying up behind me and clearing up fire etc is a given but don't want to be upsetting any locals etc.

Cheers

So long as you obey the first and most important commandment of all, you'll be OK...

DON'T GET CAUGHT

If there is a site I'd be interested as well could stage through there on my way north.

Cheers,

I don't think there is a camp site on the banks of Loch Awe, but have a read here.

me and my friends have been fishing loch awe for the last thirty odd years.we camp on the banks of the loch.as long as you have a permit you should be ok.as for a camp fire we take our own wood(old fences ect)as long as you dont cut down trees, branches ect you will be ok there should be plenty of dead wood around to use.there is a ranger that comes round to check to see if you have a permit.there was an old boy years ago who checked our permits then sat at the fire and had a can o beer and something to eat with us a few times.
and we always clean up after us.
so ally, pitch your tent hae a wee fire and enjoy. smile.gif
