Yesterday the Mayflies were in full flow, and for the first time the trout ate them. Presuming your water has them, whats your favourite pattern for them?

I use one of the Wullf flies mostly, but tied with Wally wings to keep the weight down.

(They don't fall over like the hair wings do.)

Cheers,

Hiya OT...On my own river (NW Denmark) there's often hatches of yellow (Not sure if this is a mayfly at all but it has the general characteristics) I tie vey simply with a yellow wool body, thickish yellow front hackle and hackletip wings and a few fibres of same for the tail from dyed feathers. Works a treat sometimes...one notable morning I took no less than four species on it...Rainbow, brownie, grayling and dace!

yep ive mayfly on my local river, was out last night and from 7:30 till 9:00 there was a nice hatch of mayfly and i landed three nice trout each one on the brink of a pound weight(thats big for my river!!)..i got them on a dry mayfly i tied up,it is a very simple pattern really, just a yellow body with fine gold wire ribbed around it,two yellow mallard wings and a coch-y-bon-du hackle!!!
