I'm Thinking of getting a Hardy Flyweight reel and using a double taper 3 weight line, has anyone done this? I'm a little concerned about it fitting and fly line memory. Its small stream fishing and in 16 years i've never had a fish even nearly threaten to take me into the backing so i'm not really too concerned about that, though i'd like a little just to have something to attach the flyline to the reel and ward off line memory. Any thoughts or expereince with regard to this? By the way I'm chosing that reel because its the only one in the Hardy lineup that is under the weight of the reel I am replacing (which just gave out) and heavier larger diameter reels just don't balance well with the rod in question, a 7'-3 wt. Thanks

Sounds like a great set up to me and something I use myself. You don't say what make of line you are going to use, this is the biggest reason for memory problems. Just don't get an Airflo floater and you should be OK
